More about Me

Since I can remember, I have known that being a vet is what I am meant to be. My passion for biology and craving for knowledge, combined with my empathy with animals and desire to prevent their suffering, means that being a vet would be a dream come true.

I struggled with ME (chronic fatigue syndrome) through secondary school, and missing over a year impacted me throughout, rendering me with the less than perfect grades required for vet school. I would not let this stop me, and I went on to study Zoology at Liverpool. I graduated in 2009 with a First Class BSc (Hons), and went on to apply once more for vet school.

This time around I was much more successful and gained two places. However, as a second degree student, the fees are far in excess of that of undergraduate students. I am also no longer eligible for a student loan to cover these costs, meaning I must come up with such fees myself.

The tuition fees are £22,500 per year, and the course if five years duration. Since I accepted my place at Edinburgh, I have embarked on a huge fund-raising project, contacting veterinary companies, grant making trusts and organising fund-raising events.

These have all helped to contribute to the costs I am facing, and the support I have received has been overwhelming. However, I am still in need of more......

Can you help?
